Can anyone tell me any allergie medicines that help to relieve dog allergies?

by Kasper Zummer on 2009/11/28

I am thinking about buying a hypo allergenic dog. I work weekdays and I can not afford to be sick often. I would be fine if the side effects were not too bad. Like dry eyes or something.

there really aren’t any hypo allerginic dogs. if you’re going to get one, go to a breeder and ask to see teh dogs, to interact with them and see how your allergies react.

this is really a question for your doctor though as they would know what allergy meds you could take.

that is a question for your allergist because he’s the only one that can give you the right meds

Don’t buy one of these new so called designer breeds (AKA MUTTS) thinking that they are hypo allergenic.. It’s not true, they can’t guarantee it, they can only hope that the dogs pick up those genes when being bred… You haven’t any idea how they will grow up, what they will be like, and whether or not they will have a coat that bothers you..
Normally it’s the dog’s dander that bothers people, not the actual fur on the dog… If you are allergic see the Doctor, he’ll give you something.. But go to the shelter and hang out with some dogs and see if they bug you… Don’t want to get a dog and then find out that it drives you mad with an allergic reaction.

Lortadine should provide relief from dog allergies. It does for me. Like Claratin or Alavert, ther is always a store brand which is exactly the same though costs less.

There are hypoallergenic dogs. I’ve included a link for this.

I don’t know about the hypo-allergenic dog, but to relieve allergies you should use a combination of loratadine and pseudoephedrine. These are found in alavert, claritin, and over-the-counter generic drugs. Your doctor may prescribe something different or stronger, but those work fine. Zyrtek has pseudoephedrin and cetirizine HCL. I think zyrtek works the same, but some think it works better. It is more expensive and it is by prescription only.
